Sienna Dahlen is a Juno award-winning vocalist, music educator, instrumentalist, and composer. She has released 6 albums of original folk and jazz music, and her voice is described as “alluring, one that could sell rainwater in a snowstorm.” Sienna has toured across Canada, Europe, US, Mexico, and South America. She has been a guest vocalist with L’Orchestre National de Jazz de Montréal, and the featured singer in the Oscar-winning animated short The Danish Poet by Torill Kove (music by Kevin Dean).
Juno-nominated artist Bill Coon is one of Canada’s most highly respected musicians and was awarded ‘Guitarist of the Year’ in 2009 from the National Jazz Awards. He has performed with many significant jazz artists including Jimmy Heath, Chuck Isreals, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Dee Daniels, and Oliver Gannon. As a composer, Bill Coon has been commissioned to write for many orchestras including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, CBC Radio Orchestra, The National Arts Centre Orchestra, and Jill Townsend Jazz Orchestra.
"Balladextrous" is a duo album of standard and lesser known jazz tunes recorded as ballads with Juno-winning vocalist Sienna Dahlen and guitarist Bill Coon. The idea for this album came in January of 2020 from the collective desire to honour the vulnerability of jazz ballads by remaining open, navigating silence, and shaping time
