Benjamin Deschamps: Augmented Reality

Benjamin Deschamps brings a quintet of outstanding Montreal musicians to BuckingJam Palace to present his latest project, Augmented Reality, his fourth album as a bandleader. BuckingJam regulars will remember Ben from his 2018 concert featuring the music of No Codes. We've been wanting to bring him back ever since and are delighted to be part of this western Canada tour!

Powerful, lyrical jazz presented with with an introspective and robust voice: this is Augmented Reality.

Marianne Trudel and John Hollenbeck: Saturday night

When this duo show was presented in Germany at Jazzahead in 2022, Marianne Trudel had trouble introducing the tunes because the audience would not stop clapping. Dédé Java Espiritu plunges the listener into an infinite panorama of colours and grooves. This concert invites the listener to share in a world of beauty, intuition, dreams, and mystery where catchy grooves, enchanting melodies, surprising sonorities, and joyous spontaneity go hand in hand. This is a tour-de-force by two outstanding musicians--both professors at McGill University-- who just don't tour very often in western Canada. BJP has booked two shows because this is music we want as many people as possible to hear!

"Balladextrous" is a duo album of standard and lesser known jazz tunes recorded as ballads with Juno-winning vocalist Sienna Dahlen and guitarist Bill Coon. The idea for this album came in January of 2020 from the collective desire to honour the vulnerability of jazz ballads by remaining open, navigating silence, and shaping time
